Maxine Waters Is Wrong

Sister Susan and Brother Uthman, 

On this issue, I must continue to disagree.  There is a religious tradition that continues to resonate that requires that one should abhor the sin but not the sinner.  Indeed, we are to love the sinner as much as we hate the sin.  The ugly confrontations endured by Ms. Huckabee and Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen this past week are not in the religious tradition that resonates with me.  And thus, for me, the actions were wrong and those who encourage such actions are wrong. 

Sadly, I know many will disagree with me and that many will follow the path of ugly confrontation which will only surely escalate the discord in this country.  But while that is the course that others decide to take, it is not the course for me.

Once again you are conflating history so that we can accommodate/normalize Trump We are still the victim that's what the kneeling is about. Trump has just added shit hole people, Muslims, women, DOJ, the FBI, our allies etc all while he and flunkies hide behind the Presidential.
They say Trump hits back verbally all the time then we need to start hitting back.

Was it OK for the restaurant owner in Lexington, Virginia to ask Sarah Huckabee Sanders to leave?  Was it OK for Donald Trump to ask security to escort people out of his campaign rallies?

I think it is a slippery slope and I don't agree with her proposal. I think people need to vote and they better vote in this midterm and presidential election and every election  or it will be too late. It might already be too late.

August 29: The Day the Music Was Born

The following email was originally posted on August 29, 2018 With all that is going on in the world, it may seem strange to note the birthday of a music icon who passed away almost a decade ago.  However, strange as it may seem, I do pause to remember Michael Jackson's birthday since he would have turned 60 years old today.  Somehow that number just does not seem to fit the man who seemed to be the eternal Peter Pan.  But time does march on, whether we want it to or not.
