Is Your Mind Right?

The following email was originally posted on June 29, 2018

On Wednesday, June 27, I received in the snail mail a request from the Faith & Freedom Coalition to send a thank you letter to President Trump which reads as follows:

Dear President Trump,
 
I thank you for delivering on your campaign promises.  You have 

*Delivered the largest tax cut for the American people since Ronald Reagan.

*Destroyed ISIS -- which controlled territory in the Middle East the size of Ohio when Obama left office ... and now controls NO TERRITORY.

*Erased thousands of Obama-era anti-business regulations that were crippling our economy.
 
*Created more than $7 TRILLION of new wealth for Americans by getting America's economy growing again -- more than doubling the economic growth rate from the Obama years.

*Appointed a great Supreme Court Justice in Neil Gorsuch and scores of equally tremendous judges to America's lower federal courts.

*Eliminated the ObamaCare "Individual Mandate" -- which required Americans to pay astronomical insurance premiums for effectively no health insurance.

*Eliminated most of the other ObamaCare mandates -- including the mandate that we must purchase health insurance that includes abortion and sex-change operations.

*Reduced the number of illegal border crossings into America by more than 70 percent.

And there's so much more you've achieved -- too long a list of great accomplishments to include here.  

President Trump, you did not need this job.  You could have lived a very comfortable life never running for President.  But you decided to run because you saw that America was about to be destroyed forever -- destroyed by the radical anti-Christian, anti-freedom, anti-America Left. 

You put all your personal interests at risk to save America for our children and grandchildren.  You are under daily relentless assault from the dishonest news media, Democrats in Congress, even from some Republicans.  But you persevere and stand strong ... because you love America.

For all this and more, you have my deepest thanks and appreciation.  You can count on me to continue to fight alongside you -- to do all I can to help you "Make America Great Again."

This solicitation from "Dr." Ralph Reed's Faith & Freedom Coalition is aimed at getting "10 MILLION Christian signers" to sign the letter and send it back to the Faith & Freedom Coalition so that the Coalition can forward all the letters to President Trump (and also, presumably, so that whoever sends back such letters can be placed on a list for future contributions). Of course, I will not be signing the letter.  I find the actions of this President to be morally reprehensible.  But then again, I live not just in California, but in the Bay Area, ... the home of the dreaded Nancy Pelosi, and I tend to listen to NPR rather than to watch FOX, so it may be that, in the vernacular of Cool Hand Luke, my mind is not quite right. 


What say you?  Is your mind right?  If so, why would you not sign such a letter?

The Saints Amongst Us All

August 29: The Day the Music Was Born

The following email was originally posted on August 29, 2018 With all that is going on in the world, it may seem strange to note the birthday of a music icon who passed away almost a decade ago.  However, strange as it may seem, I do pause to remember Michael Jackson's birthday since he would have turned 60 years old today.  Somehow that number just does not seem to fit the man who seemed to be the eternal Peter Pan.  But time does march on, whether we want it to or not. In response to the email I sent in June, one of my classmates kindly wrote back and informed me that he was actually at the 1988 concert at Wembley Stadium in England that is depicted in the second video.  It was a most notable concert because not only was my classmate there but apparently so too were Princess Diana and Prince Charles.  It must have been a magical memory... one that seems to be too few in this life and this world.
